Rim error First year of issue of the wheat cent and controversial removal of vdb for this year making any penny still marked with vdb on the reverse bottom of coin a highly collected coin for serious collectors. The public at the time thought his initials took away from the Lincoln honorary of the coin and was removed due to this controversy.
