1914 Antique World War I Princess Mary Tin
Original British Relic
Relics of WW I. It was Princess Mary's express wish that 'every sailor afloat and every soldier at the front' should have the present. The gifts were devised in October 1914 and intended for distribution to all who were serving overseas or at sea, in time for Christmas 1914. Also, sent to soldiers in the trenches.
Contents included packet of tobacco and packet of cigarettes, a portrait photograph of Princess Mary, Christmas cards from Princess Mary and King George and Queen Mary. May have also contained sweets or cigarettes.
Imperium Brittanicum embossed on top of the front of tin.
France embossed on left front of tin.
Russia embossed on right front of tin.
Christmas 1914 embossed at the bottom of the front.
Condition: patina consistent with age.
