A very attractive Victorian sterling silver card case by Frederick Marson, Birmingham c.1856, with all over scrolling foliate decoration, a cartouche engraved with a basket of flowers. These cases were essential accessories in the 19th and early 20th centuries for formal social etiquette, used to exchange calling cards when visiting others' homes. It weights 55 grams in total and is in a great condition for the age! With the width being 3 inches and the length being 3.5 inches, it would make a perfect “holder” for bank cards or businesses cards.
