What is the history of Heiligenblut?
The first pilgrimage to the 'Heiligen Bluet' (the holy blood) was recorded in 1273. A century later, in 1390, the decision was made to transform what was barely more than a chapel into a proper House of God. This set in motion a construction period lasting almost 100 years.
