Boy Scouts of America’s 1955 8th World Jamboree Backpack

Rare Boy Scouts of America 1955 8th World Jamboree Red Bent Wood Framed Backpack with 2 cool leather patches attached. (BSA)

All of the straps and fabric are in good shape. Larger patch is 6.5 inches across and is great for it's age. It is soft and pliable. The smaller patch is about 3.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches across.

The 8th World Scout Jamboree was held in August 1955 and was hosted by Canada at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

This was the first World Jamboree to be held in the Western Hemisphere, and the first outside of Europe.

The setting was a rolling parkland on the Commons of Fort George National Historic Site. More than 11,000 Scouts from 71 countries and colonies attended this gathering, which was notable for the number of Scout contingents that crossed the Atlantic by air to attend–1,000 from Great Britain alone.
