Cisco 8-Port 4th Gen Multiflex Trunk Expansion Module

The Cisco NIM-8MFT-T1/E1= is a fourth-generation expansion module that brings eight digital trunk ports to a Cisco 4451-X Integrated Services Router. It adds the flexibility to run either T1 or E1 circuits on a single card, so the same hardware can serve branch offices in different regions without swapping equipment.

With support for both WAN and voice applications, the module lets a network team consolidate data links and Public Switched Telephone Network connectivity in one slot. Each port includes an integrated CSU/DSU, which removes the need for external adapters and keeps cabling simple. A data rate of up to 2.048 Mbps per E1 interface gives small and midsize sites plenty of bandwidth for typical branch voice and data traffic.

The onboard Packet Voice Digital Signal Processor 4 slot allows you to add hardware-based voice processing. That means features such as echo cancellation for up to 128 ms run locally on the module, keeping call quality steady even when the network is under load.

Operations teams can manage the card through familiar tools like SNMP or Telnet. Because it is a plug-in module, installing or replacing it usually takes only a quick maintenance window with minimal disruption to users.
