The Earth Mat by AKO Yoga is used in yoga studios throughout Europe and is made in Germany. The Earth mat is a high quality yoga mat made of a new material called TPE. TPE (thermal plastic elastomer) foam is environmentally friendly and contains no PVC, latex or natural rubber. Equally important is that the TPE material is recyclable and degradable. The mat offers exceptionally good grip and traction, has a great look and has a soft touch surface. TPE mats are shock-absorbing and durable. The mat can be washed by hand with a small amount of soap at 40°C. All PVC mats - no matter which manufacturer - have a slightly softening film on top at the beginning of the manufacturing process, which makes them a little slippery when new. So when you want to use your mat for the first time, there are several options to get rid of this softening film: 1. Please wash the mat according to care instructions. 2. Wipe the mat with a mild detergent or water/vinegar emulsion. And of course, practice as much as you can to 'work in the mat'.
