Native to Western Mojave desert. Recycled from a garden demo where the landscape was ripped out and a new one put in. When i recycle these without roots, i never plant them. I lay on top of soil and stabilize with rocks, and after around 6 months to 1 year, they begin shooting roots out. If they are planted, they will rot i have seen. even in native soil or very well draining soils. Take this into account for planting.
The cotton tops are very beautiful cactus. Can do well in containers and in shaded areas. It is a great cactus for indoors and outdoors. Easy to care for as they are drought tolerant and low maintenance.
