Another story unfolds in the Sinnoh region. The setting for the adventure is the Sinnoh region of the distant past, before the concepts of Pokémon Trainers and the Pokémon League even existed.
The protagonist's goal is to "create the first ever Pokémon Encyclopedia" in this land. They choose one of three Pokémon: Rowlet from the Alola region, Cyndaquil from the Johto region, or Oshawott from the Unova region. Based in a village, they set out to explore various areas and research Pokémon.
In addition to the familiar gameplay of the Pokémon series, where you travel the world, catch many Pokémon, and build your encyclopedia, new action elements have been added.
You can quickly move around while catching Pokémon, and if you throw a Poké Ball containing your Pokémon near a wild Pokémon, a Pokémon battle will start immediately. This creates a different gameplay experience from previous Pokémon series titles.
